Heh. I've had my own WTF Moment. The 18th St Bridge over the Union Station Lead in tracks on the south side of the loop (near chinatown) I saw 2 skinheads walking hand in hand, one with devil horns, the other one with a devil tail...and this was in JULY.
As I entered the newsroom Saturday night, bringing my Sunday-morning reload of day-old-bakery stuff for the Sunday morning crew, I was confronted in one of the news goons wearing a fright mask, lunatic black wig and an orange prisoner outfit.
Okay, understand the kind of place I work. The news producers were truly shocked at this. One of them apparently freaked and was prepared to call in the security guard/cop on him. I simply looked at them, especially the guy trying to act like a mute hulking menace, shook my head, muttered "Mundanes!" and deposited the baked goods on the assignment desk.
I just wish I could transport these people, for five minutes, into the lobby of the Hyatt during an evening of Dragon*Con. Either their heads would explode, or they would be shamed into never appearing in costume again.
No matter what you may have thought of Opie Ron Fenokee, I was more authentic than that.
